Does It Work For Everyone ?

The whitening gel only works on natrual tooth tissue so crowns and filling will not whiten. Where there are fillings in the front teeth we sometimes have to replace these for whiter fillings to match with the new shade achieved by whitening.

Sensitivity

Tooth whitening can cause a transient sensitivity of the teeth but this usually passes quickly and we can provide a special serum to help with this as part of the treatment for no extra cost. Because the whitening effect is cumulative it is quite permissible to carry out the whitening over a longer period and not have to use the whitening gel every day.

Professional Home whitening

Home whitening allows you to achieve great results in the comfort of your own home and is a popular option at Rankin Dental, providing great results!

On your first appointment our dentist will take an impression of your teeth to send to our dental lab to make a custom-fit mouthguard. This professional mouthguard can be reused for future treatment cycles and ‘top-ups’.

Once your mouthguard arrives we will also issue you with your personal whitening gels and you’re ready to get started! Using your mouthguard at home, you will regularly apply the gel for a specified period as per your treatment plan (this is usually over 2 to 4 weeks, but some patients may only need a treatment period of 1 week). It’s as simple as that!
